Maggie Allen earned her Master of Art in Counseling with an emphasis in marriage, couples and families from MidAmerica Nazarene University.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas and has a private practice in Overland Park.  Previously, she graduated from Kansas State University with a business degree in Human Resources.

Maggie approaches her counseling sessions from an emotional focused perspective and with assumption that we are all doing our best but sometimes we could use additional resources to understand difficult seasons.  She believes that integrating mindfulness of our core emotions and their roots can help us learn more about why we react to stress and stimuli the way we do.  Maggie intends to join her clients to provide support during this discovery and facilitate growth.

Maggie enjoys working with individuals affected by anxiety, life transitions and trauma, especially adolescents and young adults.  Families and parents looking for support and strategies in their roles as parents to children with ADHD, learning disabilities or are neurodiverse.  Additionally, she enjoys working with couples using Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) and how family systems impact a couple’s relationship.  Maggie also enjoys working with parents that are considering or have completed a separation but would like to optimize their coparenting to lessen the effects on their children.
