In her work with clients, Hunter brings a lifetime of experience and a heart for connection. She received her Masters from MidAmerica Nazarene University with an emphasis in marriage, couple, and family counseling, and is nationally certified and licensed in Kansas. She serves throughout the State of Kansas via telehealth and the KC metro from her private practice in Overland Park.
Hunter counsels individuals, couples, families, and groups and loves helping them find wholeness, restored intimacy, healed interaction patterns, and personal transformation. She also has an affinity for group therapy, which can be cost-effective for clients and provide life-giving social support. Current group offerings (all in-person with a telehealth option) include a Saturday morning trauma treatment group, a Thursday lunchtime assertive communication skills group, and a Thursday evening interpersonal process group.
Hunter uses a trauma-informed lens with attachment-based, emotion-focused, experiential, AEDP, and EMDR interventions. She helps clients with anxiety, attachment issues, caregiver issues, complex PTSD, confidence/self-esteem, coping skills, depression, family conflict, grief, infidelity, life transitions, marital and premarital counseling, narcissistic abuse recovery, relationship issues, and trauma. Hunter also offers skill-building for assertive communication and boundaries. With clients wishing to incorporate spirituality and religion, Hunter draws from her ministry experience and training in faith integrated counseling.
