Therapists are often asked about the rules of engagement with clients outside of the session. The reasons for client contact between sessions are vast, but it is discussed very little in training programs or as part of supervision. This ethics training examines standard ethical practices in initiating and responding to client contact between sessions.

We will examine types of contact, frequency, and the therapeutic benefits and drawbacks of between-session contact. We will also investigate the different codes of ethics and information the licensure board provides.

We hope attendees will leave this training with a better understanding of how to utilize client contact between sessions in an ethical and beneficial way.
